The recent worldwide drive to combat carbon emissions has led to the creation of several new taxes across the world, which are aimed at lowering CO2 emissions by taxing businesses on their carbon efficiency. In the UK, this is referred to as the CCL - the Climate Change Levy. The more carbon efficient your business is, the less tax you will pay - which means that it is now financially a much better bet for your business to modernise than to have to pay the extra taxes.

Tests were carried out by the Swedish National Testing and Research Institute using a double glazed window with a U-value of 2.7.

The Science of why Hammerglass EnergyBlinds work so well...

The Sun’s rays consist of visible light, infrared radiation (IR) and ultraviolet radiation (UV). There are three kinds of UV-radiation.

UV-A, which bleaches furniture

UV-B, which makes us tanned, and

UV-C ,which does not actually make it through our Ozone Layer. If it did, we’d all be in serious trouble!

Window glass only allows light with wavelengths between 350-2500 nm to pass through it, so only UV-A transmits through glass windows. This is the reason why we don’t get tanned
indoors - because the wavelengths of the UV-B rays are too short to pass through the glass.

So, UV-A is our enemy here. When the UV-A hits a surface in your office, it is converted into long-wave radiation. It is this radiation that heats up the room - and remains there without the possibility of escaping through your window glass, leading to an uncomfortable and unproductive working environment.
EnergyBlinds work as a mirror which reflect the sun’s rays without altering their wavelength.

In most cases we recommended Blue15, the darkest film of the blue-grey tone. When you really need it, your sunscreen should be as good as possible. 
The film is laminated with a highly reflective aluminum foil on the outside which provide an excellent solar reflection. 
Do not mount in windows with tinted glass. 
Blue15 is available with bottom-mounted cartridge that allows better use of daylight through the upper half of the window.

Blue 40

Experienced light transmission 40% 
The total solar energy reduction 82%

Blue40 is a lighter film with a blue-grey tone. Recommended for environments with lower demands on energy savings, where more natural light is desired. 
The film is laminated with a highly reflective aluminum foil on the outside, which provides excellent solar reflection. 
Do not mount in windows with tinted glass. 
Blue40 is available with bottom-mounted cartridge that allows better use of daylight through the upper half of the window

Smoke 10

Experienced light transmission 10% 
Total solar energy reduction 78%
Smoke10 is a dark brownish film without mirror effects from the outside, which might be desirable from a design point of view. 
Do not mount in windows with tinted glass. 
Smoke10 is available with bottom-mounted cartridge that allows better use of daylight through the upper half of the window.

White

Total solar energy reduction 88% 
White blackout curtain with 1% light transmission. Recommended for environments with requests for an "airy" cover-up option. 
The film is laminated with a highly reflective aluminum foil on the outside which provides an excellent solar reflection.

White is available with bottom-mounted cartridge that allows better use of daylight through the upper half of the window.

Black
